Sustaining coherence – Learning from each other

Some information about the International University of Lake Constance:

The International University of Lake Constance is a network of 30 universities and colleges located in Germany, the Principality of Liechtenstein, Austria and Switzerland. Cooperating across borders, this network offers new study courses, supports research and development in cooperation with regional companies and enhances the offer of education and advanced training programs in the long term.

Working transnationally, the IBH offers a consolidated higher education area for students, scientists and entrepreneurs. The IBH improves regional learning opportunities by promoting new study courses which are run collectively and across borders.

The success of the International University of Lake Constance proves advantageous to all:

- The population of the Lake Constance area – it benefits from additional offers of education and advanced training programs. Transnational cooperation increases the opportunities to successfully begin a career. Contacts in the surrounding region and the neighbouring countries can be established even during education. Thus, the desire for international experience and the concurrent preservation of existing social networks can be attained successfully.

- The economy – it benefits from the network of universities and colleges as highly qualified employees may rather remain in the Lake Constance region. Furthermore, universities and colleges will react flexibly with specialised study courses on new economic demands.

- The universities and colleges – they will benefit from each other by sharing available equipment such as laboratories and high-tech instruments. The exchange of scientists and students enhances potential synergies und establishes cross-cultural understanding.

The cooperation between the International Offices and the implementation of the Lake Constance Summer School at the University of Konstanz are only two among many projects within the IBH network.
